Lerato Mvelase Emotional As She Takes On Her First Day On Radio. Now that’s how you make a highly anticipated debut. Lerato Mvelase had all ears on POWER FM when she reported to work for the first time this past Sunday.
The multi-award winning actress and TV personality, was announced a week ago as part of the POWER 987 newly refreshed line-up. By thus, Lerato, became the POWER Perspective host, a programme which airs every Sunday from 18:00 to 21:00. She made her on-air debut on Sundays 1st March 2026 with the phenomenal Florence Masebe as her very first guest.
Right at the start of her show, an emotional Lerato could barely hide her tears as she spoke about how long she had waited for her turn to finally be on radio. Although she has been in the industry for a long time, Lerato stated that this is an opportunity she had waited for many years. She further described the opportunity as an answered prayer, having waited this long to finally get her turn.
Lerato credited her mom, as one of her supporters and inspiration. She went on to thank the station for their belief in her, saying, despite the gig not being what she saw for herself at this point in her career. Lerato also credited God and her ancestors for aligning her with the opportunity. She then encouraged others to humble themselves under God’s guidance, and opportunities will come at the right time.
“This chapter of my life is something I know I waited for many years. Sometimes we do other things, thinking that some things are not for us, but God always has a different plan,” Lerato said.
