Yonda Thomas Bags His First International Role. Some get their major breakthroughs early in their careers, while others have to wait a little longer. One talent who had to wait for years to get an international casting call is Yonda Thomas. After 16 years in the entertainment industry, he is now spreading his wings beyond South African shores.
The multi-talented actor has been cast in One Piece Season 2 , which will premiere on March 10, 2026. The series promises “fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet,” according to the official synopsis. “Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line, a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.”

The Grand Line is a dangerous place… indeed,” Yonda said.
Yonda has made a mark in the acting industry. He was previously a Top 5 finalist on the SABC1 reality competition Class Act, in 2010. Many, however, know Yonda for his starring role as Mvelo Nobela in the SABC1 drama series Fallen, in 2011.
He also played customs officer, Mathew, on the British drama series Wild at Heart. He was later offered a three-month contract to play the role of Damon, a bartender, on the SABC2 drama Muvhango.
In 2012 Yonda had a guest starring role on the e.tv anthology series Mzansi Love: Kasi Style in the episode entitled PHD, based on the Nolly Book “Finding Arizona” by Michelle Atagana. He also starred as Monde Kunene in the SABC1 science fiction television series Room 9, from 2012-2013. In 2013 he had a guest starring role as Tony on the Mzansi Magic telenovela isiBaya, making his first appearance on cable network. He then went on to star in the same network’s biggest series Saint And Sinners.
Yonda is now venturing into his next chapter of storytelling with a production company called New Vessels Productions. He founded the company with his wife Dr Taz Emeran-Thomas, actor and singer Sidwell Diamond Ralitsoele as well as his wife Nkemiseng Diamond Ralitsoele. The quartet aims at creating authentic stories that spark meaningful conversations beyond the lens. With the new venture, the team has started writing , producing and shooting their own films.
