Uthando Nes’thembu Returns for Season 9 Tonight With the Introduction of MaKhwela

Uthando Nes’thembu Returns for Season 9 Tonight With the Introduction of MaKhwela. The ever-popular Uthando Nes’thembu returns tonight for its ninth season. Season 9 brings viewers back into the Mseleku household at a time when the family is more exposed and more vulnerable than ever.
Now in its ninth season, the series continues to follow Musa alongside his wives, MaCele, MaYeni, MaNgwabe and MaKhumalo. The new season picks up after the explosive December special, #Uncut: Uthando neS’thembu, which left the family at a crossroads. Viewers will also get to se MaKhwela, better known as Number 5, firmly in the fray, with her presence continuing to test the family dynamic.
Viewers watched as some of the wives openly spoke about possibly leaving the marriage, while Musa Mseleku dealt with serious health issues. The once lively and jovial household was forced to confront hard truths, make difficult decisions and begin mending relationships that had been deeply strained.
“After eight seasons, we are now experiencing something completely different, brought on by the introduction of MaKhwela. The core idea of the family’s legacy is being put to the test, and viewers will have a front-row seat to everything,” says Musa. The reality show star was up for Best Male TV Personality at last year’s National Film and Television Awards South Africa, where Uthando Nes’thembu and its spinoff Izingane Zes’thembu were both nominated for Best Non-Scripted TV Series.
As the family opens up more than before, some things begin to shift while others remain unchanged. The wives continue to face their own challenges, and the question remains: will the Mselekus get on the same page again?
Uthando Nes’thembu and its spinoffs have turned the Mselekus into the Kardashians of South Africa. As one of the most-watched shows on DStv, Season 8 drew 2.8m viewers per episode and generated over one billion impressions on social media. “Watching my family on television is a great and rare opportunity,” says Musa. “Even more so, it makes me realise just how well-known our family is across South Africa and the rest of the continent.”
Even after eight seasons, he believes this season will continue to surprise and entertain. “It is important to keep telling the story because as we grow, the story grows, and it becomes more dynamic,” says Musa. “People should watch this season because it brings something new. For the first time, we see the reactions of all the people involved in the show. Nothing will be hidden from them as they get the opportunity to be part of the family and have the right to openly share their opinions.”
Season 9 premieres at 8PM exclusively on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161), with new episodes twice a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
