Role Overview

As a Merchandiser at Dis-Chem, you will ensure that merchandising standards are executed and maintained. Your responsibilities will include stocking shelves, maintaining product displays, and providing excellent customer service. Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Up to 6 months’ retail experience
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Advantageous:

• At least 1 year retail experience

Duties And Responsibilities

The Merchandiser is responsible for day-to-day operational and merchandising tasks to ensure stock availability and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include:

• Restock merchandise to maximise sales
• Ensure delivered stock is stored and packed correctly and timeously
• Check shelf stock for sell-by dates and rotate stock on a FIFO basis
• Maintain full product range on shelves at all times
• Report low stock, out-of-stock items, damaged or expired stock
• Assist with stock counting and stocktaking processes
• Adhere to store layout, planograms, and operating standards
• Flatten boxes and place them in designated areas after unpacking
• Keep shelves neatly presented with correct labels and pricing
• Maintain daily physical upkeep of store and merchandising displays
• Assist with loading and off-loading of stock
• Clearly mark items without barcodes
• Support training of new staff
• Provide friendly and courteous assistance to all customers
• Resolve all customer stock queries and out-of-stock requests
• Wear correct uniform and badge at all times
• Handle merchandise carefully to minimise losses
• Follow Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and health and safety regulations
