Industry Peers Join Thebe As He Celebrates 30 Years Doing Music. He shot to stardom and became a kwaito star after the release on his hit single Bula Boot. Since then, Thebe has been a household name, remaining consistent in an industry that keeps on evolving.
Thebe was born in Polokwane in 1973. His father was a musician, composer and a businessman. This led him to studying sound engineering and work as club DJ, while also composing songs for friends, with Bruce Sebitlo. Thebe was then offered a record deal by Oskido, who heard his song, whilst performing at the same club. With Oskido, he released his first album titled ‘Tempy Life’. The album spawned hits such as ‘Philly’. Thebe has gone on to record 12 successful albums that have solidified him a spot in the Kwaito hall of fame.
Industry peers recently gathered around to officially celebrate Thebe’s 30 years in the industry. Among those who attended are Unathi Nkayi, Oskido, Mdu, Mandla Spikiri and Jaros. Some of them took to social media to celebrate the legend that is Thebe.
“Honoring 30 incredible years of my friend and colleague Thebe Lenyora in the music industry. 🎶✨ Grateful for all the moments and memories we celebrated together last night. Cheers to many more!” Oskido said.
