Casual Merchandiser Opportunity at Dis-Chem Brooklyn Mall

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is inviting applications for Casual Merchandisers at its Brooklyn Mall store in Gauteng. This part-time position is ideal for individuals looking to gain retail experience and become part of a pre-screened talent pool for future opportunities within the company.

Purpose of the Role
As a Casual Merchandiser, you will ensure that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are executed and maintained. Your focus will include stocking products, maintaining displays, and providing excellent customer service to support sales and store operations.

Responsibilities

• Restock merchandise to maximise sales
• Store and pack delivered stock correctly and on time
• Monitor product sell-by dates and ensure full product range is available
• Rotate stock regularly using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method
• Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired items to management
• Assist with stocktaking and counting stock files
• Adhere to store layout, planograms, and operating standards
• Flatten boxes after unpacking and place in designated areas
• Maintain neat and visible shop shelves with correct labels and pricing
• Report price discrepancies to management
• Keep updated on current and new products
• Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays
• Maintain physical upkeep of store, merchandise displays, and stock areas
• Assist with loading and off-loading of stock
• Mark items without barcodes clearly
• Support training of new staff
• Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous customer assistance
• Follow up on all out-of-stock customer queries
• Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times
• Handle merchandise carefully to minimise losses
• Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and health and safety rules

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Up to 6 months retail experience
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Advantageous Requirements

• At least 1 year retail experience
• Bilingual skills
• Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry
• Product and category knowledge
• Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking
• Ability to report suspicious behaviour by staff or customers
