Shoprite is seeking reliable and enthusiastic Truck Drivers to join their team. This permanent position is available in Mount Frere, Philippi, Ficksburg, Alexandra, Protea Glen, and Mpumalanga. The role focuses on transporting stock and food products safely, providing excellent customer service, and supporting daily operational needs.

Role Purpose and Importance

Truck Drivers are responsible for delivering products to various locations on time and in good condition. They ensure compliance with road safety and food safety regulations while acting as a key point of contact with customers. This role contributes to efficient operations, customer satisfaction, and overall brand reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Driving and Delivery

• Operate trucks safely and efficiently to deliver stock and food products
• Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries
• Adhere to food safety and transport regulations during delivery

Customer Service

• Engage positively with customers at delivery locations
• Provide information about products and handle inquiries professionally
• Ensure a positive experience for every customer interaction

Truck Maintenance

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to maintain vehicle safety
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and report issues promptly

Inventory Management

• Assist with loading and unloading stock or food supplies
• Maintain accurate inventory records and report discrepancies

Safety Compliance

• Follow all traffic laws and regulations
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines to protect products during transport

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Grade 10 equivalent
• Previous driving experience preferred, particularly in food delivery or logistics
• Valid Code 10 or Code 14 driver’s license with a clean driving record; PDP is an advantage
• 1–3 years professional driving experience preferred

Skills Required

• Excellent driving skills and knowledge of local roads
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic math skills for managing cash or inventory
• Knowledge of food safety regulations
• Strong time management and problem-solving skills
• Physical stamina to lift heavy items and work on feet for extended periods
