Debt Collector Opportunity at Truworths Cape Town

Truworths, a leading South African fashion retailer, is seeking a permanent Debt Collector to join its Credit Service team in Cape Town, Western Cape. This on-site role is ideal for individuals with a passion for retail and strong customer service skills who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise customers of their total due amount, including arrears and instalments.
• Request immediate payment or confirm a promise to pay (PTP).
• Verify the next payment date and align it with salary dates and previous payments.
• Explain the consequences of non-payment and benefits of making payments.
• Negotiate total amounts due or multiple PTPs.
• Offer credit card payments and explain the benefits.
• Offer debit order payments and explain their advantages.
• Ensure all customer information is accurately updated and correct action codes are used.

Requirements

• Matric or equivalent qualification.
• Computer literate, with knowledge of Excel and Word.
• Multilingual skills are advantageous.
• Willingness to learn, patient, tolerant, and enthusiastic.
• Ability to concentrate for long periods in a competitive environment.
• Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Persistent, assertive, and adaptable to change.
• Punctual, reliable, honest, and trustworthy.
• Understand and adhere to company and departmental policies and procedures.
