Applications Open for the National Financial Ombud Scheme (NFO) Legal Internship Programme 2026. The National Financial Ombud is looking for passionate, detail-oriented Legal Interns to join our team in 2026. This fixed-term internship, based in Johannesburg (Gauteng), offers hands-on experience in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), financial consumer protection, and case adjudication.
If you’ve completed your LLB and are eager to gain practical exposure in financial law, fairness, and governance, this opportunity is for you.
Qualification:
- Completed LLB Degree
Experience
- While prior work experience is advantageous, we welcome applications from candidates without experience who demonstrate strong potential and a keen interest in the field.
Job Purpose
- Join our Adjudication Department and gain hands-on experience in alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
- This internship is designed for recent graduates who are passionate about justice, fairness, and making a meaningful impact in financial consumer protection.
Key Performance Areas
- Corporate governance & risk: Assist in maintaining compliance and ethical standards.
- Support case documentation, correspondence, and record-keeping.
- Dispute resolution: Participate in case reviews, research, and drafting recommendations.
- Help ensure timely and empathetic communication with complainants.
- Collaborate across divisions/ departments to resolve cases effectively and contribute ideas to enhance processes and service delivery.
