Casual Merchandiser Opportunity at Dis-Chem Pharmacies Mall of Tembisa

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting for a Casual Merchandiser at the Mall of Tembisa. This part-time role was posted on 13 November 2025 and closes on 19 November 2025. The position is suitable for entry-level candidates seeking experience in retail.

Purpose of the role

You will support daily merchandising tasks, maintain product presentation standards, and provide helpful and friendly customer service.

Minimum requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Up to six months retail experience
• Basic MS Office skills
• Willingness to work retail hours

Advantageous

• At least one year of retail experience

Key responsibilities

• Restock merchandise to support sales
• Place stock from deliveries or storeroom in the correct area on time
• Remove expired or near-expiry items
• Ensure all product ranges are available on shelves
• Rotate stock using FIFO (first in, first out)
• Report low stock, out-of-stock items, damaged or expired stock
• Assist with stock counts and general stocktaking
• Follow store layouts and planograms
• Flatten boxes and send to designated area
• Keep shelves neat with correct labels and pricing
• Report pricing discrepancies
• Stay updated on current and new products
• Build and maintain merchandising displays
• Maintain cleanliness of storeroom and shop floor
• Assist with loading and offloading of stock
• Label items without barcodes
• Support back shopping tasks
• Assist in training new staff
• Provide accurate and courteous customer service
• Follow up on out-of-stock customer queries
• Resolve customer stock-related questions
• Wear correct uniform and badge
• Handle merchandise carefully to minimize losses
• Adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and health and safety rules

Competencies

• Strong command of English
• Presentable appearance

• Honest and trustworthy
• Strong time management

• Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry
• Product and category knowledge
• Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for stock management
• Ability to report suspicious behaviour
