Young Professional-in-Training Programme at Transnet Freight Rail Kilner Park

Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is inviting unemployed South African graduates aged 18-35 to apply for its two-year Young Professional-in-Training Programme. This graduate development initiative offers structured training and mentorship to equip participants with both institutional knowledge and hands-on experience across various functional areas.
The programme aims to enhance employability by providing graduates with real work exposure under professional guidance. Progress is assessed every six months to ensure the programme meets both the candidate’s and TFR’s expectations.
Programme Overview
- Duration: 24 months, structured and mentored.
- Assessment: Every six months to monitor development.
- Placement: Successful candidates are assigned to various TFR depots and departments, including SAC – Krugersdorp/Bellville, Manganese – Port Elizabeth, MMC – Kilner Park, Ore – Saldanha, CAB/ABL – Durban, Coal – Empangeni, CSO – Parktown.
- Objective: Equip graduates with practical experience and professional skills to improve career prospects.
Eligibility and Qualifications
- National Diploma / Bachelor’s / BTech qualification in Safety Management, Disaster and Safety, or Risk Management (NQF Level 6/7).
- No prior work experience required.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Graduates must be from DHET-registered institutions, including Universities, Universities of Technology, and TVET Colleges.
