About the Role
The Sushi Assistant will be responsible for the production of sushi items in the store’s sushi department. The position focuses on following established production plans, ensuring food safety, and maintaining a clean and efficient workspace.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:

• A Grade 12 qualification.
• The ability to perform well in a competency-based interview.

Core Competencies
The ideal candidate should be calm, patient, and customer-minded. They must communicate clearly, follow procedures, and handle routine work with precision. An understanding of production cards, production plans, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is essential.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production

• Follow the weekly production plan to meet sales targets and reduce waste.
• Prepare sushi recipes according to company standards.
• Keep the work area clean and organized at all times.

2. Sales and Turnover

• Coordinate with the Sushi Chef to prepare for promotional lines and special items.
• Support efforts to achieve sales growth and maintain target gross margins.

3. Administration

• Assist with monthly stocktakes.
• Perform daily waste scanning to track and minimize losses.

4. Food Safety

• Follow all food safety and hygiene standards.
• Maintain the cold chain to preserve product quality.
• Prevent cross-contamination and ensure cleanliness in all production areas.

5. Self-Management

• Demonstrate Pick n Pay’s core values in daily work.
• Stay informed about updates in food safety regulations and production methods.
• Take ownership of tasks and show accountability.
