Sales Assistant Opportunity at Baby City Table Bay

Dis-Chem Baby City is seeking a Sales Assistant for its Table Bay store in Cape Town. This permanent role focuses on delivering excellent customer service while supporting store operations and merchandising standards.

Job Purpose

The Sales Assistant will assist customers, maintain stock levels, process payments at the point of sale, and ensure merchandise is presented according to store standards. The role supports both sales and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged or expired products to management.
• Assist with stock counting, general stocktaking, and loading or off-loading stock as needed.
• Flatten boxes after unpacking and place them in designated areas.
• Maintain full product ranges on shelves, ensuring correct placement, labels, and pricing.
• Restock merchandise to maximize sales and maintain shelf availability.
• Keep up to date with new product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
• Build and maintain promotional displays and implement monthly promotions on time.
• Handle all merchandise carefully to prevent losses.
• Process customer transactions, including cash, cards, vouchers, and loyalty cards.
• Establish professional customer relationships and provide friendly assistance.
• Report customer compliments and complaints to management and resolve stock-related queries.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• Up to six months’ retail experience preferred.
• Certification in Retail Business Management is advantageous.
