Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking Casual Merchandisers for its Brooklyn Mall store in Pretoria, Gauteng. This part-time role is designed for individuals who want to gain retail experience while supporting store merchandising and customer service operations. Applications close on 08 October 2025.

Job Overview
The Casual Merchandiser will ensure that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained. The role includes restocking, stock rotation, visual merchandising, and providing excellent customer service. This position is also part of a strategic talent pool, allowing pre-screened candidates to be considered for future opportunities within Dis-Chem Pharmacies.

Key Responsibilities

• Restock merchandise to maximize sales and ensure shelves are fully stocked.
• Store and pack delivered stock correctly and efficiently.
• Monitor sell-by dates and rotate stock regularly on a FIFO (first-in, first-out) basis.
• Report low stock levels, damaged items, expired products, and price discrepancies to management.
• Maintain store layout, planograms, and merchandising displays according to company standards.
• Flatten boxes, manage storeroom stock, and assist with loading and off-loading of merchandise.
• Support stocktaking, counting of stock files, and back shopping as required.
• Ensure products are neatly presented, correctly labeled, and visible on shelves.
• Provide courteous, friendly, and helpful assistance to customers.
• Follow up on all out-of-stock customer queries and resolve stock-related issues.
• Maintain personal presentation, wear the correct uniform and badge, and adhere to health and safety standards.
• Minimize losses by handling merchandise carefully and reporting suspicious activity.
• Assist with the training of new staff as needed.

Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• Up to 6 months’ retail experience (1 year advantageous).
• Computer literate, including MS Office.
• Strong command of English.
• Presentable, trustworthy, and honest.
• Effective engagement with customers, management, and staff.
• Ability to work retail hours and handle physical tasks, including lifting boxes.
• Reliable transport or reside near the store.
• South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records.
• Bilingual skills, knowledge of merchandising standards, and FMCG industry experience are advantageous.
