Sales Assistant Opportunity at Birkenstock V&A Waterfront, Cape Town

Birkenstock V&A Waterfront is seeking a motivated Sales Assistant to join their retail team. This permanent role offers the chance to develop retail, customer service, and merchandising skills while working with a respected global brand.
Job Purpose
The Sales Assistant will provide exceptional customer service, support store operations, and assist in maintaining inventory and visual merchandising standards. The role focuses on creating a positive shopping experience and promoting the Birkenstock brand.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service and Sales
- Greet every customer within 30 seconds of entering the store.
- Deliver excellent service following Birkenstock customer procedures.
- Identify customer needs and use product knowledge to demonstrate benefits.
- Close sales, secure add-on sales, and encourage customer loyalty.
- Monitor sales progress against individual targets throughout the day.
Inventory Management
- Replenish footwear, apparel, and accessories from the storeroom daily.
- Minimize shrinkage by following store zoning, greeting customers, and enforcing changing room policies.
- Ensure accurate stock entries in the POS system.
- Process deliveries, including checking quantities, tagging, hanging, pricing, and recording in the POS system.
- Process customer orders efficiently.
Daily Operations
- Maintain store cleanliness, including dusting, mirrors, vacuuming, counters, and change rooms.
- Assist with opening and closing the store as required.
Training and Development
- Take responsibility for personal training and development.
- Work with a designated buddy to learn store operations.
- Attend quarterly training sessions and complete assessments.
- Receive monthly feedback from the store manager.
- Participate in monthly meetings to track progress through the Birkenstock rookie pack, which impacts promotion eligibility.
Merchandising
- Maintain stock presentation to Birkenstock standards.
- Replenish sizes and assist with window and mannequin displays fortnightly.
- Store POS materials properly to prevent damage.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Minimum six months customer service experience.
- Birkenstock knowledge is advantageous.
- Ability to work flexible shifts.
