Casual Merchandiser Opportunity at Dis-Chem Bedford Square, Johannesburg

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking Casual Merchandisers for its Bedford Square store in Johannesburg, Gauteng. This part-time role is ideal for individuals looking to gain retail experience and develop skills in merchandising, stock management, and customer service. The closing date for applications is 18 September 2025.

Purpose of the Role
The Casual Merchandiser ensures that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are consistently executed and maintained. You will also provide excellent customer service and support the store in stock management and display.

Minimum Requirements
Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Up to 6 months of retail experience
• Computer literate, including MS Office
• Willingness to work retail hours

Advantageous:

• At least 1 year of retail experience

Key Responsibilities

• Restock merchandise to maintain maximum sales potential
• Store and pack delivered stock in the correct locations promptly
• Monitor sell-by dates and rotate stock on a FIFO (First In, First Out) basis
• Ensure full product range is available on shelves at all times
• Report low stock, damaged stock, expired stock, and out-of-stock items to management
• Assist with stock counting, stocktaking, and filing
• Adhere to store layout, planograms, and merchandising standards
• Keep front shop shelves neat, visible, and correctly priced
• Build, face up, and maintain merchandising displays
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the store and merchandise displays
• Assist with loading, off-loading, and back shopping of stock
• Provide courteous and helpful assistance to customers
• Follow up on all out-of-stock customer queries
• Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times
• Minimise losses by handling merchandise carefully
• Comply with Dis-Chem policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations

• Bilingual communication skills
• Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry
• Product and category knowledge
• Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for stock management
• Ability to report suspicious or bad behaviour
