Young Women Warned Against A Video By Influencers Luring Them to Russia for Greener Pastures

Young Women Warned Against A Video By Influencers Luring Them to Russia for Greener Pastures. With the high unemployment rate in South Africa, many scammers have found ways to trick desperate job seekers. They advertise what appears to be lucrative opportunities, which are in fact dangerous plots where job seekers’ money is taken, or worse, they become victims of serious crimes.

Over the past few days, there was a video clip circulated by entertainer, Cyan Boujee. In the clip, she is promoting a 2-year long ‘Alabuga Start Programme targeting young women. The campaign encourages unemployed women aged 18 to 22 to move abroad. Those taking part in it will apparently acquire professional skills and commence their careers. Cyan highlighted that participants would be well taken care of and would be living in a pyramid-shaped building with thousands of other women from around the world. The programme promises to teach the young ladies different languages, including Russian.

South Africans did not buy into the opportunity, as soon as it was shared on social media. They teared Cyan up, stating that she is setting vulnerable young women for human trafficking. Among those standing against the video, is The Justice, Crime Prevention and Security through their social media page. They advised citizens to not rely solely on social media promotions. They have been urged to always cross-check and get a second opinion from a trusted source. The video clips have since been taken down by those individuals who posted.
