“No Cameras No TikTok Dance Challenges and All This Performative Rubbish,” Luphumlo Ngcayisa On the Changes He Will Make If He Were Return to Radio

“No Cameras No TikTok Dance Challenges and All This Performative Rubbish,” Luphumlo Ngcayisa On the Changes He Will Make If He Were Return to Radio. A lot of people love to say radio is dead. They are not happy with the content that broadcasters share on air, and the caliber of radio personalities we have. Also it doesn’t help that there are podcasts mushrooming everywhere taking over the mainstream media.
One individual who has reservations about the state if radio today is Luphumlo Ngcayisa. He has vast experience in broadcasting, having worked for major media houses. Among other gigs, Lupi was a Metro FM and Talk Radio 702 show producer as well as TV producer and host. He has also worked on one of the radio shows that one would say contributed to what new school radio sounds like, That is the Y-Lens with DJ Sbu on YFM.
The media guru has just taken to X, sharing what he would do, if he were return to radio. To start with, Lupi will do away with the cameras on studio, and wouldn’t engage on the TikTok challenges we often see personalities do. He stated that he would instead deliver compelling radio content, which is entertaining and educational.
“If I were to return on radio. There will be no cameras rolling on my radio show. There will be no TikTok dance challenges and all this performative rubbish radio has been reduced to where radio presenters have to act like dumb clowns for social media relevance and likes. Well some of them are not acting dumb they are dumb but that’s not the point. We would deliver compelling radio content, entertaining and educational without cheap stunts and fanfare. Radio is theatre of the mind NOT theatrics and hyper performance,” Lupho said.
