Here Are Mam’ Nandi Nyembe’s Memorial and Funeral Services Details. A couple of months back, Mam Nandi Nyembe‘s struggles became known to the public. The veteran actress, who was wheelchair bound, had both financial and health problems, and asked the public for assistance.

A number of people, stepped in to help Mam Nandi. Among those were the Minister of Arts, Sports and Culture Gayton McKenzie as well as some industry colleagues. Using his own personal finances, McKenzie gave Mam Nandi some cash, and also vowed to assist her some more.

Sadly Mam Nandi, did not live long enough, to realize her wishes of getting some work to sustain herself. She also allegedly passed away without receiving the funds raised for her,neither did the Minister visit her as per public promise. Mam Nandi passed away over the weekend, and heartfelt tributes have been pouring in. A memorial service in her honor, will take place on Thursday 28th August at The Market Theatre, in New Town. The event will run from 11am to 3pm. Mam Nandi will be buried on Saturday 30th August. The service will be held at TBC, from 7am to 10am.

For decades, Mam’ Nandi has entertained us through the shows she was cast in. Many remember her for playing Nandi Sibiya on Zone 14. She also portrayed the character of Lily on SABC 1’s hit teen-drama Yizo Yizo, and the leading character in the SABC 1 sitcom Izoso Connexion. Mam Nandi has also been on Jacob’s Cross, Soul Buddyz, Hillside, Erfsondes, 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls, The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, Sticks and Stones, Isithunzi, Isibaya, The Road Ashes to Ashes, Isithembiso Dolly and House of Zwide.

She has also acted in feature films, including Reasonable Man (1999), Saturday Night at the Palace (1987) and Yesterday (2004).
