Toys R Us and Babies R Us South Africa are seeking a Shop Assistant for their Bay West store in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. This permanent role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, driving sales, and maintaining store standards. The position is open from 19 November 2025 to 01 December 2025.
Role Overview
As a Shop Assistant, you will provide a WOW experience for customers, assist with sales, and ensure the store operates efficiently. You will represent the brand, help customers find the right products, and maximize sales through excellent service and product knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver AWESOME customer service to provide a WOW experience
- Attend to individual customer needs and prioritize the customer at all times
- Assist customers on the sales floor and over the phone promptly
- Adhere to basic customer service standards
- Determine customer requirements and advise on products, pricing, and warranties
- Demonstrate, explain, and advise customers on products
- Sell products, including add-on sales and services
- Ensure goods are correctly priced, displayed, and promoted
- Execute promotions on time and according to schedule
- Follow merchandising layouts and housekeeping standards
- Prepare, implement, and maintain advertised sales promotions
- Report fast and slow sellers to the Store Manager
- Participate in stock takes and stock counts
- Minimize stock loss and expenses
- Maximize sales in all areas of responsibility
- Protect the company’s assets in your area of responsibility
Entry Requirements
- Matric Certificate
- Minimum of six months retail experience
- Own or reliable transport for shift work
Skills and Attributes
- Sales-driven and target-oriented
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Motivated and tenacious
- Knowledge of merchandising
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment
General Responsibilities
- Undertake other duties as requested by senior management
