Social Media Reacts to Kelly Smith Getting Life for Her Daughter Joshlin’s Human Trafficking. This is one of the saddest cases ever in our courts. Kelly Smith, her boyfriend Jacquen “Boeta” Appollis and their friend Steveno van Rhyn have been accused of kidnapping and human trafficking 6-year-old Joshlin Smith.

Testimonies revealed Kelly planned to sell her daughter for R5,000, with state witness Lourentia Lombaard claiming Smith admitted to selling the child to a sangoma. After 34 days of testimony and cross-examination, Western Cape High Court delivered its verdict on the highly publicized case. Judge Nathan Erasmus ruled that the 6-year-old was trafficked and unlawfully deprived of her freedom.

Today was the day for the judgment against Kelly, Jacquen and Steveno. The trio has been sentenced to life in prison for human trafficking and 10 years for kidnapping Joshlin. The judgement was received with an applause from the community, and social media is rejoicing as well. Many believe that judgement was served for young Joshlin. Sadly though, the whereabouts of Joshlin, remains unknown.
