10 Interesting Facts About Skeem Saam’s Tiisetso Thoka (DJ Thomas). Tiisetso Thoka is the most talked about man on TV right now. This is because the character he plays on Skeem Saam, DJ Thomas has been caught with his pants down, with Mapitsi Maputla. Lets learn about Tiisetso from the 10 facts below.
1. Tiisetso Thoka started acting at a drama club in Lydenburg, Mpumalanga, while in grade 3. In 2003, he moved back to Ga-Mphahlele, Limpopo, to start high school. But, his school didn’t have drama. So in 2004, I moved to Johannesburg to live with his grandparents to pursue his dream.
2. He continued with high school while looking for an agency. He found one that offered a three-week TV presenting and acting course in town. His parents paid for the fees to support his dream. After completed studies, the school disappeared from the building it occupied just before graduation.
3. With his dream on hold, Tiisetso and his friends decided to start a drama club. they wrote their own scripts and participated in the intercity competitions. He continued until he matriculated in 2007.
4. In 2008, he started his first year of B.Com Law at the University of South Africa. He did well, and earned a bursary to complete his degree at Varsity College.
5. In 2011, a friend from high school who worked at Urban Brew Studios told him about presenter auditions for SABC 1 interactive show, YoTV. Tiisetso was in Krugersdorp filming an advertisement, but made his way to Auckland Park for the auditions. Two days later, he received news that he got the job.
6. Tiisetso spent 18 months presenting shows such as YoTV Live, Did You Know and Supersonic. After completing his degree he quit the show because he wanted to grow my career. He did hs articles at a law firm for two years before finally quitting in 2014 to pursue acting.
7. He landed his first role in 2016, on e.tv drama series, Gold Diggers. A few months later, Bomb Productions production coordinator, Carmel Nahania, asked him to audition for the role of a boxer on their new drama, Isithembsio. He then returned for two more callbacks before getting the role.
8. In 2017, he was offered a role on new drama series, Inkululeko. His career then grew from strength to strength. Tiisetso has since landed many roles from major shows. These includes playing Dingane on The Herd, Pablo on The Imposter, Siya on Rhythm City. He has also gone to guest star in numerous television series including the drama series eKasi: Our Stories, crime drama Task Force, drama series Snake Park, and Gold Diggers.
9. Currently Tiisetso is doing the most as DJ Thomas on Skeem Saam. The talented radio host is a hit with the ladies, but decided to go for his married co-star Mapitsi. The two were recently exposed by Kamo Phalane, a colleague who has been Mapitsi’s enemy for a decade.
