Eskom Implements Stage 2 Loadshedding

Eskom Implements Stage 2 Loadshedding. After months of enjoying uninterrupted power supply, we are back to the loadshedding days. It couldn’t have come at the worst time, as we are currently experiencing rains and cold weather.

In a statement released by Eskom, Stage 2 loadshedding has been implemented as of 16:00 today. This will go on until tomorrow at 05:00. This is because of a higher than expected electricity demand, the loss of generation units, and extensive planned maintenance. Eskom has also urged the public to use electricity sparingly, so as to reduce pressure on the grid.

Thursday, 24 April 2025: Despite significant progress in our generation recovery efforts, higher-than-expected electricity demand, the loss of generation units, and extensive planned maintenance have placed strain on the system. As a result, Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 today and will remain in effect until 05:00 tomorrow. Given these ongoing constraints, we urge the public to use electricity sparingly to help reduce pressure on the grid. Eskom sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience and will continue to provide updates as necessary,” reads the statement.
