Dr Sindi van Zyl Remembered With Touching Tributes 4 Years Since Her Passing. It has been four years since we lost Dr Sindi van Zyl to Covid-19. She gained popularity through her social media platforms. She used Twitter (X), mainly, to inform and engage about HIV particularly Prevention of mother to child transmission, and other health issues.
When Dr Sindi opened up about her illness in February 2021, many people extended sympathy and empathy to her family. Celebrities like Black Coffee and many others sent messages of speedy recovery after she shared a picture of herself in a ventilator. South Africans donated more than R1.5 million to help cover her medical expenses when it emerged that she was between medical aids at the time of being admitted to hospital. Through the help of individuals and companies like Woolworths and Le Creuset, the #GiftSindiLife campaign managed to raise just over R1 million.
Unfortunately, van Zyl passed away on the 10th April 2021 leaving her loved ones and fans at large devastated. Although she is no more, her legacy still lives on, and many people still use her advice. The medical doctor and radio personality left her fans and followers with many health lessons, as well as great personal traits to emulate.
