Cyril Ramaphosa Takes A Moment to Applaud the Gauta BMX Cyclists

Cyril Ramaphosa Takes A Moment to Applaud the Gauta BMX Cyclists. The trio, Gauta, Maxwell and Karabo got a heroes welcome, when they arrived in Cape Town on Monday. This comes after they cycled from Limpopo to Cape Town, for two weeks, covering over 1700km!
They’ve raised money for their community to establish a cycling club to introduce more young people to the joys of cycling. On the journey, they’ve also captured the hearts of the nation, also attracting major sponsors. How cool is it that leaders have also taken notice of the trio. Among those is President Cyril Ramaphosa, who has just penned a heartwarming message to the young men.
“On behalf of the South African government and its people I congratulate cyclists Gauta Mahlakoane, Maxwell Ndou and Karabo Mokoo for safely completing a first and unique historic tour from their hometown of Burgersfort, Limpopo Province to Cape Town, Western Cape Province, on an arduous adventure of 13 days and 1741 km of pedaling on their BMX bicycles,” the president said.
He spoke about their ambition to succeed against all odds, which has captivated the nation. This according to the president has shown that we can achieve anything we set our eyes on. Ramaphosa also applauded the team for advocacy against alcohol, drugs and gangsterism.
“This feat of human endurance has awoken the possibilities of what one will achieve when setting their sights to greatness. As a peloton you triumphed over adversity and the journey from Burgersfort to Cape Town fueled our Ubuntu human connection that defines South Africa. In the spirit of solidarity, the people of South Africa not only cheered the team on when pacing past their communities, they also responded to your needs by raising awareness about BMX Gauta Team club and your advocacy for young people to stay off alcohol, drugs and gangsterism. South Africa admires and values the youthful exuberant self-starting initiative you espoused that has inspired this and many generations to come,” Ramaphosa added.
