“It’s Been A Full Year On House Arrest,” Jackie Phamotse Reflects

“It’s Been A Full Year On House Arrest,” Jackie Phamotse Reflects. A year ago, Jackie Phamotse was sentenced to two years house arrest for defaming the Kumalos. The case dragged for six years, getting massive attention from the public and media.
In addition, Jackie was also given a fine of R30,000 or 10 months in prison. On top of it, she was given unpaid community service. The Randburg magistrate’s court also fined Phamotse R12 000 on count three or four months imprisonment. On count four, she was penalized R18 000 or six months imprisonment. Some felt that Jackie got away with a light sentence, while others said that she was bullied by powerful and rich people.
Well, whatever the case, the judgement had to be honored. It has been a year since her house arrest, and Jackie has reflected on the past year. As hard as it seems, she is all positive about it. This has been a year of reflection, growth and resilience for Jackie. She found ways to adapt, cope and thrive in confinement. Jackie managed to write two books, and complete her university studies in the past year.
“I have written two books and I’m completing my university studies. I have stood for my work and protected it,” she said.
“The initial frustration and anger gave way to reflection and introspection. I was forced to confront my demons, to examine my actions, and to take responsibility for my mistakes. It wasn’t easy, but it was necessary,” Jackie added.
