“First I Was Poisoned Now I Lost My Mom,” Rethabile Khumalo Reflects on the Past Sad Incidents. The past couple of months have not been easy for Rethabile Khumalo and her family. First she got poisoned, and a few months after that, her mother passed away.

In June 2024, Rethabile was fighting for her life in hospital, after one of her friends allegedly poisoned her. Her mother Winnie Khumalo took to Instagram, to share the devastating news. The veteran musician revealed that Rethabile has been in hospital for almost a week, and has already had three operations. Winnie asked the public to include Rethabile in their prayers, as she goes through this difficult time. Although it didn’t look good at the time, Rethabile has since recovered.

Just six months after that, Winnie passed away. The veteran musician and actress died on the first week of January at her home after a short illness. She was only 51 years of age. This was such devastating news for Rethabile, more so since she was very close with her mother. The two even did music together, as they were in the same industry. Winnie was always there for her daughter, giving her the necessary support to advance.

It’s been a month since Winnie’s passing, and many are still battling to come to terms with it. This includes her daughter, Rethabile, who recently posted a touching Instagram story. The award winning musician feels defeated, after battling food poisoning and now losing her mother. She also added that, she might look like she is taking it well, but deep down its’ a different story.
