Thuso Mbedu Celebrates Viola Davis’ Major Recognition
Thuso Mbedu Celebrates Viola Davis’ Major Recognition. We just love how Thuso Mbedu and Viola Davis’ friendship has evolved over the years. Back in 2018, Thuso shared in a radio interview with Tbose, that she dreams of working alongside Viola. Not only did that dream come true, the two are also best of friends.
On Friday, Thuso attended the 2025 Golden Globes where Viola and and Ted Danson were honored for their incredible career achievements in film and TV. The two veteran actors were awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Awards at the prestigious event held in Beverly Hills, USA. Viola delivered a moving, 16-minute speech while accepting her lifetime achievement award. She reflected on how her turbulent upbringing fueled her passion for acting as an escape and how financial necessity often influenced her choice of roles.
Her colleague and friend Thuso, who was also in attendance took to Instagram to celebrate her. The multi-award winning actress spoke highly of Viola, and the incredible work she does in the industry. They also snapped some cool pictures together.
“What an exceptional way to start the year. A beautiful reminder about perspective and gratitude. @violadavis is MAGIC. Her heart and story are awe-inspiring. A big congrats on the @goldenglobes for honoring her with the Cecil B. DeMille Award. We all celebrate her and are so very proud of her.
