Thandiswa Mazwai Shares Some of Her Sister Nomsa’s Great Achievements As She Clocks 40. The Mazwai family got together a day ago, to celebrate one of their own, Nomsa Mazwai. She was celebrating turning a whole 40 years.
Big sister Thandiswa Mazwai shared epic birthday content on her social media platforms. The content features a heartwarming family portrait, a picture of their dad, with his grand kids, as well as a picture of the Mazwai siblings. Thandiswa’s girlfriend also joined the family for Nomsa’s birthday celebration.
The celebration still continues, and Thandiswa has shared more content of the birthday girl. The multi-award winning musicians has shed some light about Nomsa’s life in a beautiful thread. She mentioned some of her most amazing achievements which includes studying at the iconic Fort Hare University. While there, Nomsa made history as the first female SRC president, as an independent candidate.
“When she left Fort Hare she got a Ford foundation scholarship to go study at Fordham in New York. She passed with flying colours! Top of her class,” Thandiswa added.
During her time in the US, Nomsa started making more music and shooting videos. One of the videos she did is called โTravelerโ and she did with the Grammy Award winning DJ Black Coffee.
After her stint in New York to focus on development in ignored communities. She ran an artist residency in Hamburg near East London where she hosted artists of all kinds. Nomsa then came back to Johannesburg where she ran the Soweto Theatre for a couple of years. She also started doing morning walks called #Funkitimwalking which have now turned into a tourism package that she does to show people Soweto and help support the night economy for a #SafeSoweto.
