Sad Note: Doc Shebeleza Passes Away. Just two days after the death of musician and actress Winnie Khumalo, South Africa mourns yet another legend. Doc Shebeleza has passed away in hospital, after battling a long illness. Just like Winnie, the Kwaito legend, whose real name Victor Bogopane, died aged 51 years.
The Ebumnandi hitmaker, has been in hospital for quite some time. A few weeks ago, Doc Shebeleza, said he was mentally and spiritually strong and was looking forward to being with his family at home on Christmas. He then asked fro prayers fro his fans, as he had another major operation scheduled for January. Sadly, he did not make it.
Doc Shebeleza has been in the music industry for decades. He rose to prominence with his debut album S’Kumfete, in 1996. The album produced several hit tracks, including Kumโnandi, Ebumnandini and Ghetsa Ghetsa. In the same era, he founded the all-male group Amaskumfete, which became known for hits such as Tsipa Tsipa.
