According to Sunday World publication, the talented singer and actress died on Tuesday at her home after a short illness. She was only 51 years of age. The publication revealed that media personality, Sabelo “Ntombeningi” Sithole was one of the first few people to be contacted by singer Rethabile Khumalo, Winnie’s daughter. Ntombeningi was asked to rush to Winnie’s house because she was not moving. Upon arrival he unfortunately discovered that it was too late.

The family is yet to release an official statement on the matter. Meanwhile, social media users are are sharing tributes as well as condolence messages. Among those are Winnie’s peers in the industry, who are as shocked as the rest of South Africa. Zola Hashatsi, expressed his grief in a heartfelt post. The actor and TV personality, also shared how Winnie came through for him in the industry.
