Gqeberha: The Empire Cast Members Say Their Goodbyes As the Show Airs Final Episode. This evening (Friday 10th 2025), is a sad one for Gqeberha: The Empire fans, as the telenovela airs its very last episode. The show has been entertaining viewers for two years, and now its’ bowing out.
Gqeberha: The Empire, premiered on 16 January 2023 starring Mbulelo Grootboom, Zikhona Sodlaka, Zandile Msutwana, Phila Madlingozi, Unati Guma, Ayanda Makayi and Anele Matoti. It also introduced new talent among them Kay Bikitsha, Thembinkosi Ngcukana, Akhenime Mfenyana and Siziphiwe Maqubela. More talent such as Bongile Mantsai, Oros Mampofu, Rorisang Mohapi, Likhey Booi and Zinzi Nsele joined along the way.
When it dropped it’s first episode, Gqeberha: The Empire was a hit. Many were interested in seeing how Luzuko Mxenge was going to juggle his three wives. He also had a new girlfriend, children and a businesses that needed his attention. As episodes went by, some viewers lost interest on the show. The telenovela went under fire for poor production as well as redundant story line. Some viewers felt that Gqheberha has many talented actors, but was not living up to the hype. The likes of Mbulelo, Zikhona, Akhenime and Phila, who started with the first season, left the telenovela.
After two riveting seasons of drama, passion, and unforgettable storytelling, Gqeberha: The Empire, announced that it was coming to an end. Tonight is the final episode, and fireworks are expected.
