Applications Open for the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority China Bursaries. Are you a South African matric graduate seeking international study opportunities?

The Chinese Culture and International Education Exchange Centre (CCIEEC), in partnership with the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) and the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA), invites matric graduates who completed matric prior to 2024 to apply for an
exciting opportunity to study towards a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in China.

This initiative aligns with the LGSETA and INSETA Annual Performance Plan targets, contributing to South
African youth skills development and employability.

Requirements

  • South African citizens.
  • Must have completed matric prior to 2024 (no restrictions on the number of years post-matric).
  • Unemployed at the time of application.
  • Aged 18 to 25 years.
  • Willingness to commit to the full programme duration in China.
  • Ability to adapt to a new cultural and academic environment.
  • No criminal record.
  • Medically fit for international travel (HIV, TB and Syphilis negative) according to the rules of the People’s Republic of China. A medical exam will take place before departure to China.

How to Apply?

  • Go to the LGSETA website https://lgseta.org.za/international-scholarships/ and follow the steps:
    • i. Click Services tab.
    • ii. Then click International Scholarships under Learners tab.
    • iii. Lastly click on the link provided under 2024-2025; thereafter
  • Complete the online Bursary application form.
  • Select two study options.
  • Upload all the required supporting documents on the link within your online application.

Submissions:

  1. Individual bursary application must be submitted by each student/learner through the LGSETA website as per details under how to apply (No applications should be sent via email addresses or hand delivered).
  2. The application window opens on 14 November 2024 at 8:00 am and closes on the 14 December 2024 at 23:59 (midnight).
  3. The deadline will not be extended. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Documents Required:

  • Bursary Application Form
  • Certified copy of ID document not older than 6 months
  • Certified copy of Matric Certificate not older than 6 months
  • Proof of Residence

Scholarship Will Cover for the Following Items:

  • Tuition fees
  • Flights – annual return flights for the period of studies
  • Shared accommodation
  • Allowance
  • Visa Applications
  • Domestic Transportation in China related to studies informed by the institution only
  • Hospital Insurance

Learners Will Be Expected to Cater for the Following Items and Costs:

  • Passport
  • Police Clearance Certificate
  • Medical examination
  • Any other additional costs

Please Note:

All Scholarship applications are subject to evaluation and approval by the CCIEEC, LGSETA and INSETA.

The allocation of these Scholarships will be dependent on the availability of funds and on applicants
meeting all requirements as per the programmes funding criteria, policies, and procedures.

CCIEEC, LGSETA and INSETA reserve the right for the final interpretation and to cancel the Scholarship
Opportunity in China in whole or in part at its discretion.
