Smash Afrika Bags A Major Reality Show Hosting Gig. What a comeback! If you have been missing Smash Afrika on TV, say no more. He has just bagged himself a major hosting gig, as host of Season 5 of Big Brother Mzansi.
Smash will be replacing award winning media personality and actor Lawrence Maleka. Lawerence who has had a good run with the Big Brother franchise won’t be returning to the reality show as host.

Smash Afrika Mdutyulwa is one of the biggest names in our local entertainment industry. He hails from Bloemfontein, where his love for radio and multimedia was ignited on campus radio. In 2012, he joined YFM and worked at the station for 5 Years. He broke into national TV on Mzansi Magic and Channel O where he hosted Massive Music till March 2023. In 2018, he moved to national radio and joined 5FM. He hosted 5Nights, weekdays 7-10 pm where he was inspiring and lending a voice to the youth of South Africa till March 2023.
Besides doing radio and TV, he counts events such as Rocking The Daisies, Homecoming Africa, Major League Gardens, Channel O’s 20th Birthday, Black Coffee’s Block Party, Fact Durban Rocks 2017, Amstel Boomtown and Sneaker Exchange as some of the events he has MC’d throughout his career.
Smash Afrika is also a businessman of note. He is the founder of African Urban Nights, affectionately known as A.U.N, an event created to celebrate African music, art, food and fashion in urban spaces. He is also co-founder of start-up fashion brand October Thirty First.
