Basetsana Kumalo Steps Down As Connect TV CEO. They say a good dancer knows when to leave the stage. Basetsana Kumalo is doing just that, as she bows out of Connect TV as the company’s CEO.
Basetsana co-owns the digital content and television production company with Clifford Elk. The two have together produced a number of award winning TV shows. Some of the shows include Our Perfect Wedding, Date My Family, Diski Divas, Bootcamp, Utatakho, Please Step IN, Ons Spruikies Bruilof, Married in a Flash and most recently Married at First Sight.
Now the TV mogul, former Miss South Africa and businesswoman is stepping down as CEO of Connect TV. She announced on social media that she is leaving the roles in the capable hands of Kopano Cowen. She has mentored Kopano for a decade, and is confident that she will take the company to great height.
“I have been a producer for 30 years and have loved creating content for audiences over the years. As CEO of @connect_tv I now hand over the reigns to my successor @kopanocowen who I have mentored for 10 years and has worked with me at Connect as a producer,” Bassie said.
She then proceeded to say how proud she is of Kopano, who has an impeccable work ethic. Bassie assured her successor that she will always be there for support. Kopano started off as an intern, and now she is in the big league. Talk about earning your stripes!

She studied and obtained an LLB degree and then went on to work in production, growing in experience from production intern to executive producer.
She also has experience in acquisition, having worked in contacts administration at Mnet.
She has recently completed her post-graduate degree in business administration with Milpark Business School,” Bassie added.
