Statement: Lunga Shabalala Addresses Assault Allegations. Doing the rounds are reports that Lunga Shabalala spent some time in prison after he was involved in a physical altercation with an Uber driver. The model,TV personality and actor is accused of allegedly hitting the e-hailing service driver at a petrol station in Sandton, Johannesburg.
According to the reports, the incident occurred after the driver slapped Lunga’s girlfriend, actress Sindi Kheswa, during a trip. A fight ensued between the two men, with Lunga hitting the driver with a bottle. His charges are said to include assault with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Reacting to the reports, Lunga took to Twitter, refuting the claims. In his statement, he shared that the allegations were unfounded and harmful to his character. Lunga states that there were no pending legal cases against him and that the man involved had voluntarily withdrawn charges.
“After reviewing the matter, the prosecutor chose not to pursue any form of prosecution, which speaks to my innocence in the situation and underscores the baselessness of these allegations against me,” he wrote.
Lunga also added that he does not condone violence of any kind. As a public figure, he understand the immense responsibility that he carries in promoting positive behavior. Lunga also stand firmly against all forms of violence, including gender-based violence. In conclusion, he thanked everyone who continue to show him support during this difficult time.
