South African Actors Who Kill The Villain Character (Part II). Ever finding yourself hating an actor because of the role they play? Well you are not alone. These actors play the characters so well that one can’t separate the man from the role. Our list continues, this time around featuring Mothusi Magano, Israele Matseke-Zulu, Bongile Matsau, Zolisa Xaluva and Vusi Kunene.
6. Mothusi Magano
When it comes to playing the villain who is also a lunatic, no one does it like Magano. In fact, he is so great that some of his fans suggest he plays Thabo Bester in a movie or documentary. Mothusi is best known for his roles in the popular serials Tsotsi, Scandal! and Intersexions. He also e starred the role ‘Charles “Mingus” Khathi’ in the SABC3 drama series The Lab. The show became highly popular, where he continued to play the role until 2009.
7. Israel Matseke-Zulu
He is up there with some of the best actors in the world when it comes to nailing the villain role. Many have come to know Israel for his role as GP in the SABC1 drama series Gaz’lam. He also starred in Z’bondiwe as the cold, ruthless and dangerous Jakes Masilo. He also got a role on isiBaya as gangster Cyprian Gumbi, as well as Don in Gomora.
8. Bongile Mantsai
When we hear he is joining a particular show, we know he is coming to shake things up. Hate him or love him, Bongile always gives his all in these villainous roles. When he joined Scandal! as Mthunzi Mayisa, all hell broke loose. The character portrayed him as a ruthless villain, and Bongile got hated by viewers. Currently he is on Gqeberha: The Empire, also killing it as a villain.
9. Zolisa Xaluva
Zolisa is a true definition that ladies love bad boys. In some of the shows he has acted on, he is a true villain, and his fan base grew. The talented actor showed that he had it in him when he joined The Queen as Diamond Mabuza. He tortured and killed with no mercy. Other shows like Smoke & Mirrors, showed more of his range as a villain.
10. Vusi Kunene
The legend is best known for his role as Jack Mabaso in Generations and its continuation, Generations: The Legacy. We all know no one messes with Jack and gets away with it. He also played Funani Zwide in House of Zwide, Bhekifa in Isibaya, and Jefferson Sibeko in Isidingo. Vusi has nailed all these roles, commanding respect.
