Outlaws Star Nirvana Nokwe Details How Her Boundaries Were Violated Recently While Shooting A Rape Scene. Skeem Saam‘s recent rape court case has sparked a conversation on social media regarding consent. Many feel Ntswaki should be punished since initially she was showing signs of wanting to have sexual intercourse with Tobias. Others however are happy with Tobias going to jail, because he just assumed Ntswaki was OK throughout the deed.

Joining in on the conversation is actress and musician Nirvana Nokwe. Many know her as Sihle Biyela in her break out role on the internationally acclaimed Showmax Original ‘Outlaws’. She also stars in the riveting crime thriller ‘‘Red Ink’ as Busi Mhlongo. Nirvana is also starred as A$AP Rocky’s mother in the groundbreaking music video ‘GANGSTA’ by the Free Nationals, A$AP Rocky & Anderson Paak.

Weighing in on the Skeem Saam rape issue, shared her own experience regarding consent and boundaries. She stated that her personal boundaries were violated in a rape and murder scene.

These dialogues sparked by the Skeem Saam episode really go to show how poor and disorganized our ideas of consent and violation are. I am writing to share an experience I had during a recent project on set, involving a violation of my personal boundaries in a scene where the character I was playing was being murdered and r*ped,” she said.

Before the scene, the parties involved, clearly understood the sensitivity of the scene. Extensive discussions were had we had, and they reaffirmed the physical, emotional and psychological boundaries in place, as well as precautionary measures and aftercare to ensure the safety and wellness of the both actors performing the scene as well as the crew.

Sadly it did not go as Nirvana wanted. She was left feeling uncomfortable and unsafe because of actions that crossed her boundaries. Matters worse, the management did not do anything to help the situation afterwards.
