Masasa Mbangeni On Being Told She Belongs In Hollywood As Opposed to Local Shows
Masasa Mbangeni On Being Told She Belongs In Hollywood As Opposed to Local Shows. She is one of the best actresses of our time. Masasa Mbangeni slays every role she gets, and she has been consistent over the years.
Many remember the award winning actress for playing the character of Thembeka Shezi in popular television serial Scandal!. Masasa received two nominations for Best Actress in a TV Soap from the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) in 2014 and 2015 for the role. At the same time, she received a nomination for Best Actress in the inaugural DStv Mzansi Magic Viewers Choice Award as well. After Scandal!, she appeared in the season two of thriller television series Thola telecast on the SABC2 channel. Then she played the role ‘Celia’ on the series Harvest. Masasa later returned to the series and then the character was shot dead, making her second exit from the show.
Masasa has also played in the feature film Machine Gun Preacher, The Republic, The River, Legacy, Housekeepers, I’m All Girls, among other shows. Her most recent role is playing Malime Mambi in the Heart of A Hunter Netflix series.
Since she is doing amazingly well, there will always be those who think she should hit the international scene. Masasa even shared a screenshot message of someone who stated instead of being on SA shows she should be in Hollywood. She was not impressed though with the suggestions, and explained her reason in a series of tweets.
“Please stop this guys. It’s weird. It makes one feel like all their effort and wins are not worth it because they aren’t where you think they should be. Turn that criticism within! Concern yourself about yourself! Are YOU where you suppose to be. If not do something,” Masasa said.
