Sad Note! Gogo Skhotheni Announces the Passing of Her Son. The loss of a child is the nightmare that no parent wishes to go through. Sadly this is the current reality for Gogo Skhotheni and Monde Shange, who just lost their 2 year-old son.
Monde Junior Shange was born on April 12 2022 two months before term. Although that was the case, his mom never had complications and she never even had labour pains. Immediately after birth Junior was fighting for his life and doctors were trying by all means to give him oxygen as he couldn’t breathe. Two hours after the doctors struggled they then had to quickly rush him to NICU. A week after being born in Busamed Harrismith he was quickly rushed to Bloemfontein as it was discovered he did not have an esophagus. Junior couldn’t swallow anything, so a peg tube was inserted in his tummy, and that’s how he got fed. A small hole was also opened on her neck so saliva can pass through that hole.
Since then, Junior has been in hospital, making progress. He has spent holidays like Christmas and birthday milestones at the hospital. Despite all this, Junior has been like any other toddler, active and growing. Through it all his parents have been supportive, making sure he is well taken care of.
Sadly, he has succumbed to his condition, and his mom, took to social media to share the sad news. He passed away at 15:00pm on Monday, September 2nd, 2024, at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital.
“The families kindly request privacy as they navigate this deep and painful loss. We ask for your understanding and
compassion in giving them the space they need during this difficult time of grieving,” the statement reads.
