SA Female Celebrities We Sadly Lost In Women’s Month. August has been marked as National Women’s Month. During the month women are celebrated, honored and appreciated for their contributions to their families and society in general. Sadly this year, we lost a couple of prominent female SA personalities during Women’s Month.
Thabiso Sikwane
When close friends and family were looking forward to celebrate Thabiso Sikwane’s 50th birthday, they woke up to the news of her passing. According to her ex husband, Thato ‘DJ Fresh’ Sikwane, Thabiso passed away at around 6:30am on Saturday. He added that they were told the cause of death could be a cardiac event. The seasoned broadcaster’s voice was featured on radio stations such as Voice of Soweto, SAFM, PowerFM and Kaya FM.
Jessica Mbangeni
Poet, Dr. Bishop Jessica Mbangeni, also passed away on Saturday morning after a brief illness. The 47-year-old personality was reportedly rushed to the hospital after suddenly falling ill. Most notably, Jessica performed at the late former president Nelson Mandela’s 46664 concerts in Cape Town and former president Thabo Mbeki’s inauguration, among many others.
Connie Chiume
Connie Chiume passed away at the Garden City Hospital today on Tuesday 6th August 2024. The veteran actress was aged 76. Industry colleagues, fans and the public at large, remember her for her talent, and above all, the motherly love, that she showed to everyone she encountered. Mama Connie was laid to rest on Thursday 15th 2024 at Lala Noxolo cemetery in Crystal Park.
Zanele Mbokazi
A couple of days after Mama Connie’s passing, it was announced that Zanele Mbokazi has also passed. The media personality and Crown Gospel Music Awards’ founder passed on in the early morning of Monday 12th August 2024, at Parklands Hospital. She had lung cancer, which she sadly succumbed to.
