Lebo M Mourns American Icon James Earl Jones (Mufasa). Death continues to claim the lives of talented stars. On that note, the world is currently mourning one of the most talented and versatile actors ever, James Earl Jones.
Known for his husky and unforgettable voice, Jones died at the age of 93. The multi-award winning actor’s voice earned him numerous roles, which her will forever be remembered for. Jones is known for being the voice of Darth Vader in Star Wars. He later reprised the voice in 2005 for Revenge Of The Sith and he returned to the role nine years later in the first episode of Star Wars Rebels, and in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Jones also notably provided the voice for King Mufasa in the animated drama film, The Lion King. Mufasa and Sarabi’s have a son, Simba, who is to be the next King, however, Mufasa’s younger brother, Scar, covets the throne.
Scar sets a trap for Simba and Mufasa. He lures Simba into a gorge and signals the hyenas to drive a large herd of wildebeest into a stampede to trample him. Mufasa, comes to save his son, only for him to be thrown to his death by Scar. He tricks Simba into believing that Mufasa’s death was his fault and tells him to leave and never return. Unaware of Simba’s survival, Scar steps forward as the new king. After years, Simba comes back to claim what’s rightfully his.
Jones, the voice behind Mufasa, was surrounded by his family when he died, his representative said. No cause of death was shared. He is survived by his son Flynn Earl Jones, who he shared with late wife Cecilia Hart.
