He knocked on the relevant doors, and eventually got to live his dream. The award winning TV director has directed shows many shows, Gold Diggers, Greed and Desire, Mina Nawe, Easy Money, Nqobile, The River, Kings of Joburg, Zulu Nomhlaba, and Rockville, among others. Zolani has also done lengthy commercials as an assistant director. Furthermore he has worked on international films like, Blood Diamond, 10 000 BC, District 9 as an assistant director.
He still wants to do more in the industry, as he loves storytelling wholeheartedly. Taking to social media Phakade called out to those who are able, to help him the most intense stories.
“I love storytelling. With all my heart. May I ask each and every one that is following me, who is not a robot, to support me. I am nothing without each and every one. I want to tell the most intense stories ever. I am tired of hearing South Africans saying as filmmakers ...
We are failing them. Truth is securing good funding to tell amazing stories is soooo hard…. I am going to put my head on the block because I am super passionate about South Africans and truly good Africans. WE ARE KINGS. Please support me. My dreams are too big….
Hence, they will take time… I am asking that when it all happens, please support me. Please hold my hand. I respect your intelligence. From Johhanesburg to Cairo. My name is Zolani Phakade,” he pleaded.
