Thobani Nzuza Publishes His Second Theatre Play
Thobani Nzuza Publishes His Second Theatre Play. Being multi-talented is such a blessing. Many now Thobani Nzuza, as a talented actor, but there is so much more that he has done in the entertainment space.
On top of all his talents, the award winning Thobani is also a published Playwright and a storyteller. African ubuntu is central to the evaluation of modern society. In 2018, he published his first book, Boy Ntulikazi which tells a story about how challenges determine the way individuals reflect on the world around them. Boy Ntulikazi’s past has damaged him mentally, leaving him unstable. Ntulikazi, the man, assumes a variety of character roles in almost schizophrenic mode. He is a patient in an awaiting-trail observation case.
Thobani is back with another published theatre play, Shintsha Guluva, that he wrote and directed back in university in 2014. The original cast members are Soyiso Ndaba, Nqubeko Ngema, Sibusiso Ngcobo, Mnqobi Msimango and Lihle Nene. Shintsha Guluva was first performed at Khaya Multi Arts Centre (2014 Isigcawu festival). It won Best director and position 2 in the competition.
“I have decided to publish a second theatre play, I wrote in Varsity 2014, after Professor Ravengai from Wit University wrote me an email early this year,” Thobani said.
The email reads, “Last year I supervised two 4th year students doing a directing project from your play which I found it interesting. At time, I thought it was published but now I know that it is still in draft form. I would like to expose my first years to your work as, during this first semester they do non-realist/presentational theatre.”
Thobani extended his gratitude to Sphelelo Dlamini for his assistance in the publishing of the theater play.
