Social Media Reacts to Floyd Shivambu Resigning From EFF

Social Media Reacts to Floyd Shivambu Resigning From EFF. South Africa woke up to shocking news doing the rounds that Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Deputy President Floyd Shivambu has resigned. He apparently rendered his resignation Wednesday evening amid leadership changes.

Shivambu has been the Deputy President of EFF since 2013, and was responsible for Policy, Research, and International Relations. He is one of the founding members of the party. Since their days in the African National Congress Youth League, Shivambu and Julius Malema have appeared as close political allies. Following both their suspension from the African National Congress, Floyd Shivambu co-founded the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), alongside Julius Malema.

Sadly the two prominent political figures have parted ways. Although many found it hard to believe Shivambu’s resignation from the EFF, the party has confirmed the news in an urgent press conference. Malema has stated that he accepts the resignation of the Deputy President, but felt the pain of Floyd’s resignation just like when his grandmother died.

Shivambu is now joining former president Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto Wesizwe party, but did not reveal which position he will be occupying.

As expected, social media is going abuzz with the news.
