- What inspired you to become a TikTok creator, and how did you develop your unique style and approach to content creation?
My inspiration for becoming a Tiktoker is solely from my love for video content creation. So I had a friend who urged me to join the app in 2019, I hesitantly did and I saw how easy and relatable the app was, I started making videos since then and it is now history.
My style and approach to content have been hugely informed by my sense of humour and unique talent. God has blessed me enough to always be different in a crowd.
- Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a filmmaker and launching your own production company? What were some of the challenges you’ve faced, and how did you overcome them?
Since I was in my teens, I always loved the idea of acting. It started in church drama then school drama clubs, and I later went to study film in university and graduated with a second class upper degree. I am glad I knew what I wanted to do at an early age and always i have had supportive parents who were always there for me. Because I knew what I wanted to do in life I did not let myself get distracted, I always said no matter what it took I would have my own production house. The major challenge would be finance seeing that filmmaking is expensive, so I tried to save up money from TikTok and it helped me start my company, even though we are not there yet as a company, we are getting there.
- Your short films have been making waves on TikTok and beyond. What’s your approach to storytelling, and how do you come up with ideas for your films?
My approach to storytelling has always been ‘Tell it differently’. I always try to tell stories from perspectives that no one expects or from an angle that is very unusual and that has really helped me in keeping the viewers glued.
- How do you balance your work as a TikTok creator, actor, and filmmaker? What’s a typical day like for you, and how do you prioritize your projects?
Working as a content creator, Actor and Filmmaker is a lot. But thankfully not so apart. As a content creator, I can make TikToks while filming on set, so sometimes I mix them all. When I am acting I am sometimes directing also, which can be a lot so I try to either just act or direct at a time. Also, it’s about priorities, if I have an acting gig I need to concentrate on I focus on that, if it’s a TikTok I need to deliver on schedule, I also focus on that, if not it’s usually a mix. My typical day is just a shuffle between the gym, writing ideas, shooting videos and editing.
- You’ve had the opportunity to direct music videos and work on various productions. What’s been the most memorable or impactful project you’ve worked on, and what did you learn from the experience?
The most memorable music video for me would be ‘Loyal’ by Promphizy. It was a risky project because it was very experimental, we tried something we hadn’t seen before, and my biggest takeaway from that project is TAKE RISKS because you never know. People loved the project so imagine we had not gone ahead with it.
- Your content often tackles serious issues, but you also know how to bring the laughs. How do you approach creating content that’s both impactful and entertaining?
As much as I am a very comical person, I could be serious too. Today I could be making jokes on TikToks tomorrow I am talking about a serious issue like politics. I try to balance both I believe that the world is about balance and as a creator you should know when to get serious and when to joke because as a creator you have so many people looking up to you and you can’t lead your followers astray.
- Can you tell us about your experience working with other creators and collaborators? What do you look for in a collaborator, and how do you build successful working relationships?
It’s always beautiful and exciting working with other creators, not only do you learn from them, but you get to expand your own reach through their followers, so it’s a win for both parties. When trying to collaborate, I look for creators with the same goals, dedication and principles as me, also creators with similar content that is about positivity definitely, then its easy to build sustainable relationships because you agree on the same values and principles.
- How do you stay inspired and motivated to continue creating content and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on TikTok and beyond?
My inspiration comes from my fans and family. They continue to show unending support and each day I wake up knowing I can’t let them down, so I need to get up and get to work.
- What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned from your journey as a creator and filmmaker, and how has it shaped your approach to your work?
The most important lesson I have learnt is patience. As long as you put in the work, and be patient, your time will definitely come. Keep working hard, keep Showing up and keep believing.
- You’ve built a loyal following on TikTok and beyond. What’s the most meaningful or touching feedback you’ve received from a fan, and how does it motivate you to keep creating?
The most meaningful feedback from a fan is when I came across an autistic kid and had a water-gun fight with them, so there is this content where I toss water guns at strangers then ask them to pick the guns and fight me, the kid was delighted to partake, his mom with tears in her eyes told me how that means a lot to them, and since then I become friends with the kid. And it just goes to show how you can positively touch someone’s life without even knowing.
- What’s next for you? Are there any new projects or collaborations in the works, and how do you see your brand evolving in the next few years?
There are definitely collaborations on the way, I am writing a couple of scripts already and will begin production soon, so very soon I will be dropping my projects and of course, some of these projects will be on TikTok.
- What advice would you give to aspiring creators and filmmakers who want to make a name for themselves in the industry and build a successful career?
The advice I would give anyone trying to do what I am doing is just start now, there is no right time right equipment or right age, just start now, put in the work, dedication and discipline then watch yourself grow.
