Former Gomora Cast Members Remember Connie Chiume In Heartfelt Tribute. It has been two days since the devastating news of Connie Chiume‘s passing.
According to a statement shared on her Instagram account, Mam’ Chiume passed away at the Garden City Hospital on Tuesday 6th August 2024. She was aged 72 at the time of her passing. Tributes has been pouring on for Mama Chiume, mostly from the general public and her peers in the industry.
Having started her career decades ago, Mam Chiume has been on many shows. Among those is Gomora, here she played the iconic Mam’ Sonto. She killed the villainous character, impressing viewers and fellow cast members.
Some of her colleagues from the telenovela, have penned heartfelt tributes in her remembrance. They include Thembi Seete, Ama Qamata and Cee Cee Ndaba.
“Gomora family, we were united mainly because of your parental guidance. 🙏🏾❤️You effortlessly switched between being a mentor and a friend, making us feel seen and heard. Your generosity and kindness, like when Black Panther surprised you with a cheque and you celebrated by spoiling us with food and treats, are in my memory,” Thembi said.
“You’ve assured me in so many ways that the love we shared on screen transcends the fiction. You became a mother to me. You held me in some of the most challenging times of my life. I’ve experienced pain, heartache and grief. I cannot believe I now have to experience these things because of you without you,” Ama.
“I will miss you so much Mama and I want to thank you for everything you’ve done. I am so honored to have experienced the magic of the legendary Connie Chiume, I love you and I hope you rest in eternal peace❤️,” Cee Cee.
