“Do We Have to Be in the Olympics or Die Before We Stand up Comedians Can Meet You?” David Kau to Gayton McKenzie

David Kau Requests Gayton McKenzie to Meet Up With Comedians. Since his appointment as the Minister of Arts, Sport and Culture, Gayton McKenzie has been a busy man. He has shown massive support to many sports code, and entertainers in general.

Just the other day the Minister attended Mama Connie Chiume’s funeral. He gave such a moving speech, and wowed crowd speaking in Chichewa. McKenzie has also been supportive of the athletes who represented the country in the just ended Paris Olympics.

The entertainment industry is quite broad though, so the Minister is still yet to give full attention to other codes. Entertainers that he is yet to engage with are the stand up comedians. David Kau, a prominent entertainer has just requested for McKenzie to meet up with them. He spoke of how their sector has given jobs to multitudes out there, without government input.

Do we have to be in the Olympics or die before we Stand up Comedians can meet you @GaytonMcK? We know weโ€™re not recognized or thereโ€™s no category for us although we have employed hundreds of people without any government Assistance but would appreciate a meeting please. Please advice who to contact to have a meeting with you. I will go on a run walk with you and spin cars – whatever it takes. Guys pls RT until Minister replies,” Kau said.

McKenzie however, was not happy with the approach. He shared how he has supported stand up comedians in the past.

I have attended every comedy show you ever had,I had bought loads of tickets despite you offering them for free, I even bought for my staff, i have booked you last year 4 our event @ Houghton hotel. I canโ€™t have you insinuating that I donโ€™t care about comedians, your approach bro,” he said.

It was all love at the end though, with Kau rewriting his request, and McKenzie promising to come through for comedians.
