Another Sad Day! South Africa Mourns Zanele Mbokazi. Just a couple of days after the passing away of Connie Chiume, the country is mourning yet another prominent figure. Zanele Mbokazi, has sadly passed away after a battle with cancer.
In an announcement made by her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, Zanele passed on in the early morning of Monday 12th August 2024, at Parklands Hospital. The family is grateful for all the support they have been receiving since her illness, up until her death. They have also asked for privacy, as they try to come to terms with the loss.
“We are grateful for all the prayers, love and support we received throughout her illness. The family would appreciate privacy as we navigate through this challenging time,” read the statement.
On April 21 the Ukhozi FM presenter fell ill and could not finish Eshilo as she experienced challenges with her voice. This saw her colleague Thokozani MaMkhize Ndlovu fill in for her.
Her husband Mpendulo, then gave an update on the media personality and Crown Gospel Music Awards’ founder’s health on Ukhozi FM’s Vuka Afrika Breakfast Show.
“Doctors did several tests and took her to theatre for surgery to check what went wrong and they found she has lung cancer,” he said.
Upon the announcement of her passing, South Africans took to social media to express their grief, as well as share heartfelt tributes. She will forever be remembered as a woman of God, a big contributor in the Gospel fraternity, a talented radio personality, and philanthropist, among other things. Zanele is also remembered for her unwavering dedication, passion, and love for uplifting others
