New Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie Congratulates Tyla and Makhadzi on Their BET Wins. What a way to start your first day at work. Gayton McKenzie is the new Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, and already he is welcomed with great news.
This past Sunday BET held their annual awards ceremony at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California. At the prestigious event, two of our talented artists brought home major awards. Tyla received four nominations, taking home wins for best new artist and best international act. This is her 2nd major award after winning her first Grammy Award for best African music performance in February.
Makhadzi on the other hand, was crowned BET Viewers’ Choice: Best International Act. She humbly started from singing at taxi ranks, to now bagging international awards. Other artists who bagged nominations are Tyla ICU and Focalistic
Reacting to their wins, McKenzie congratulated them, for a job well done. He also vowed to help unearth more stars in the country.
“Things are happening already, congratulations 2 both ladies,we wanna assure South Africans that we will not be a Ministry that will be content with congratulating artist and creatives only but will go out and unearth more Tyla’s & Makhadzi’s , help us find more future super stars,” McKenzie said.
